This picture shows what is almost never seen: the heater before render. The mass is built entirely in firebricks, including the rounded section that wraps around the firebox — every brick in the curve is cut to suit.
The site-built bench is already in place on the left, capped with its slab. The glazed firebox is wedged in position, protected by its timber packers. Only the render is missing.
