Spring 2018: we stay in the Grand Est and in our own region, since they have been enlarged; so here we are in the Territoire de Belfort, at the northern entrance to the Ballon des Vosges regional nature park. Our task: replace an ageing and damaged Kachelofen (cast-iron heat exchanger perforated by corrosion) with a modern, high-performance Grundofen (insert-type glass door). This one has an optional cooking oven and electronic control of the air inlet damper and the flue outlet damper. The clients saw their project through by enlarging an existing opening and replacing part of a partition with the heater’s storage core. The heater thus sits in the central part of the house, dividing three spaces, including the living room with a fine view of the fire and the hall, which distributes the heat to the rest of the house. The cladding will be done by the client after a day’s training with us, which also gets the work started by laying the first elements in line with the bespoke plans drawn in 3D ahead of the project.

The other side, towards the hall: three round cleaning doors sit flush with the render. The storage core replaces part of the partition and distributes the heat to the rest of the house.
