The front is built in yellow firebricks, with moulded bricks framing the firebox and forming the corner quoins: a profile now only found in small production runs, which gives the masonry its relief.
The first fire is lit while the work is still unfinished — deliberately. A new masonry heater holds several hundred litres of mixing water; it must be dried out through slow, repeated rises in temperature before any normal use, or the render will craze.
Built in 2014.
